On Sunday October 26 we will hike from Stephens Park in Morris County to the Sussex Branch Trail trailhead in Allamuchy State Park, in Sussex County. The hike uses a small part of the white blazed Patriots Path, a good part of the Morris Canal Trail, and small parts of the Highlands Trail, the Liberty Gap Trail, and the Sussex Branch Trail. We chose Sunday instead of Saturday because of possible hunting on Saturday.

The hike is mostly flat (following the Musconetcong) but in Allamuchy State Park we will climb a hill to a nice overlook. The hike will probably be about 5 hours, more if we take
long rests. The hike will pass by Waterloo Village. Time permitting we will make a small detour and walk through the village.

Because parking lots tend to fill early we will meet at 8:45 in the Sussex Branch Trail trailhead in Allamuchy State Park, on Waterloo Road (CR 604). We will leave as
many cars there as practical and drive to Stephens Park, then hike back.

Directions to the Sussex Branch Trail trailhead: From I 80 take Rte 206 North to the crossing with CR 604 (Waterloo Road, traffic light). Make a left (west). The trailhead is
in about 1.0 or 1.1 miles on your right.

People who want an easier and shorter hike can put a car in Waterloo Village.

Let one of us know if you plan to participate.
